Computer Reading Glasses

Computer reading glasses are also known as extended focus reading glasses or office glasses.

They are a delightful lens.

The top half is focused at out stretched finger tip range (also know as the intermediate distance by optometrists). The bottom half is also focused at normal desk top reading distance.

They artfully overcome the tyranny of a limited focal range which is one of the main disadvantages of regular reading lenses.

Advantages:

1 An extended range of clear vision. Ideal for modern office life.

2 Sit in a more relaxed posture taking the strain off your back.

3 See clearly those sitting across the table from you.

4 No line on the lenses. They look just like regular glasses.

Disadvantages:

1 They use progressive lens technology to smooth out the line. There is a slight amount of distortion at the edges of the lens, but nothing like regular progressive lenses.

2 They cost more than standard reading lenses. Usually about 50% more.

If you work in an office environment. Do yourself a favour and get a pair of these lenses.

Like progressive and bifocal lenses they need to sit in the correct position in front of your eyes. Best not to buy online as an “average” setting may not work for you.
