Monovision Contact Lenses

I know this will sound crazy, but this is how monovision contact lenses work:

You have one eye ( usually your dominant eye) corrected for distance. If your distance vision is perfect then you won’t need a lens.

The other eye will be corrected for reading.

It’s a bit like having reading glasses with only one lens! How could you possibly managage that?

The brain is an amazing thing, and after a bit of adjustment, I find that around 60% of those who try can cope with it.

Now obviously your vision will be compromised. Your distance will be a little blurry because the reading eye will interfere, and the reading will be a little blurry because, you guessed it, the distance eye will interfere.

While your vision may not be perfect, it may be good enough to drive to the restaurant and read the menu in soft romantic lighting.

Where things come unstuck is when you go to the office and try and work on your computer for 8 hrs. The imbalance between the eyes will often cause headaches and eyestrain.

So for socialising and having fun these lenses can be a wonderful option to have in your life.
